The Cunning Verses
Through nature, culture, time and place Exists the gods for us to truly pray. They come to us alone in hallowed grace; It matters not what others do or say. Divinely shown is sacred, inner sight; Through one or many gods it matters not. Divinely known are myths through nature's might; Through pious deeds their virtue's truths are taught. As months and seasons pass upon the earth – To every god whose might we surely praise – Beneath the sun and moon our pleas have worth Without the need for formal feasts or days. As spells for some or rites with hymns to sing, Distinctions such as these are made in err. Upon our altars every word or thing Exists to give to gods the will we bear. Through names their known in every text and tongue; The honored names the gods provide and show To us are simply those we grasp. Among Their names are those that only spirits know. In forms both old and new the gods appear. They're found in tomes and statues we unearth, But show their newest forms in dreams sincere And all the joys of life through love and mirth.
